Today I'm going to do something that all photographers should be doing, consistently, and that is: cleaning my photography gear!
As photographers, our camera gear is so important to us- it's our main tool! It's necessary to take the time to clean and maintain camera gear so that it continues functioning at a high level. Taking good care of our camera gear should ultimately help our gear last longer too.
My camera equipment needed a good cleaning, so I decided to make a video out of it in case anyone has any questions about cleaning gear.
When's the last time you showed your camera gear some love?
Check out this video to follow along as I clean my Sony a7iii camera body and lenses.
Here's some Main Takeaways from the video:
start with a clean area
hold camera with the sensor facing downward when cleaning
only use tools and cleansers that are specifically made for optics and lenses
clean the outside surface of your gear before cleaning the inside
don't forget to clean your caps too
remember to lock the sensor before cleaning
protect your sensor! always have your sensor covered with a lens or a cap
clean often :)
If you have any questions about cleaning your gear, please feel free to leave me a comment or reach out on my Contact page.
Cheers!
